IDV, a specialized brand of Iveco Group N.V. focusing on defence and civil protection equipment, has recently inked a framework agreement with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration. The deal entails the supply of up to 3,000 light vehicles to the Swedish Armed Forces, with an initial order of 400 vehicles amounting to 850 million SEK (roughly 73 million EUR).

Over a span of up to nine years, IDV will deliver Light Multi-Purpose Vehicles (LMPV) in the 4×4 Military Utility Vehicle (MUV) configuration. These vehicles offer excellent mobility, compatibility with military and NATO fuels, and the ability to operate across diverse climatic ranges from -32°C to +49°C. Furthermore, the fleet will benefit from reliability and servicing coverage for up to 12 years, with dedicated Customer Logistic Support.

The MUV lineup comprises 12 distinct variants, including troop transport, medical, communications, and logistics models that adhere to NATO standards. In order to meet the specific technical requirements of the Swedish Armed Forces’ LMPV Project, IDV has designed purpose-built solutions and vehicle adaptations. These enhancements encompass an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) performance upgrade for both the vehicle and superstructures, ensuring full military compliance. The vehicles are equipped with in-cab provisions for seamless integration of communication and military equipment, as well as customized superstructures catering to different roles and applications. Notably, the Medical 2 variant can be transported within the C-130 airplane while maintaining the functionality of medical systems and intensive care equipment.

This significant contract underscores IDV’s commitment to delivering top-tier defence solutions amidst a complex international landscape.
