Stellantis, a global automotive powerhouse, and Ample, an innovator in sustainable transportation energy, have entered into a groundbreaking partnership set to redefine the electric vehicle (EV) landscape. The collaboration focuses on integrating Ample’s Modular Battery Swapping solution into Stellantis’ electric vehicles, promising to revolutionize the charging experience for EV users.

The core of this strategic partnership lies in addressing critical challenges faced by EV owners, including charging time, range anxiety, and battery wear. The binding agreement between Stellantis and Ample sets the stage for a transformative journey towards providing fully charged electric vehicle batteries in less than five minutes through battery swapping technology.

The partnership’s initial phase, scheduled to commence in Madrid, Spain, in 2024, will see a fleet of 100 Fiat 500e vehicles deployed in Stellantis’ Free2move car-sharing service. The Fiat 500e, recognized as a global leader in the electric vehicle market, serves as an ideal ambassador for showcasing the capabilities of Ample’s revolutionary technology.

Ricardo Stamatti, Stellantis Senior Vice President of Charging & Energy Business Unit, highlighted the partnership’s role in promoting freedom of mobility for electric vehicle customers. The collaboration aligns seamlessly with Stellantis’ commitment to energy efficiency, outstanding performance, and reducing range anxiety, as articulated by Stamatti.

Ample’s CEO, Khaled Hassounah, emphasized the joint commitment to making electric vehicles accessible without compromises. Ample’s Modular Battery Swapping solution offers a fast and cost-effective alternative to traditional EV charging, with the potential to significantly reduce the time electric vehicles are out of service.

The subscription-based availability of Ample’s battery technology not only reduces upfront costs for EV customers but also ensures access to the latest battery innovations, enhancing the overall range and lifespan of electric vehicles.

As part of Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, the company is committed to achieving a 100% passenger car battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales mix in Europe and a 50% mix in the United States by 2030. With the ambitious goal of securing 400 GWh of battery capacity, Stellantis is on track to becoming a carbon net-zero corporation by 2038.

Recognized as a pivotal step towards a sustainable and electrified future, the Stellantis and Ample collaboration invites readers to share their thoughts and engage in a dialogue about the future of electric mobility. As the automotive industry embraces transformative technologies, this partnership stands as a beacon of innovation, promising to shape the next era of electric transportation.
