Nokia Launches Industrial 5G Devices to Revolutionize Worker Safety

2 min read

Nokia has taken a significant leap in ensuring worker safety, connectivity, and efficiency in hazardous industrial environments by unveiling a range of ruggedized industrial 5G devices. These innovations are designed to cater to a wide spectrum of enterprises, including public #safety teams, operating in challenging settings such as mines, ports, chemical plants, and offshore oil platforms.

The new #5g handhelds, manufactured in the United States, offer a long lifecycle and are IP 68-rated for robust performance in remote and harsh conditions. These devices support dual-SIM functionality, swappable batteries for shared usage, and customizable keys for push-to-talk communication, all while allowing workers to keep their safety equipment intact.

In an exciting development, Nokia has joined forces with i.safe MOBILE GmbH, the world market leader for explosion-proof mobile devices and solutions, to introduce EX-rated 5G handhelds. These devices are rigorously tested and certified for use in hazardous areas, offering reliable connectivity for sectors such as oil and gas, mining, and chemical manufacturing.

Nokia is also simplifying device management and connectivity through a subscription-based ‘as-a-Service’ model for its ruggedized #5g industrial devices. This approach helps enterprises transition asset costs from capital to operating expenses, streamlining operations and facilitating connectivity management.

The updated Nokia Team Comms application aligns with the 3GPP defined MCS (Mission Critical Services) standard, providing enhanced communication capabilities for workers in challenging environments. Users can now engage in video streaming and voice calls, even in the most complex situations, while administrators gain greater control through a newly built web portal.

We invite our readers to share their thoughts on how Nokia’s industrial 5G devices may reshape worker safety and productivity in challenging environments. Your insights and perspectives are essential as we embark on this transformative journey.
